JSW MG Motor India has launched a Blackstorm Edition of the Astor and a Snowstorm Edition of the Hector. These special edition SUVs have cosmetic updates over the standard models’ exterior and interior but remain mechanically unchanged. The Hector Snowstorm is based on the second-from-top Sharp Pro trim, while the Astor Blackstorm is based on the mid-spec Select trim.

    1. Hector Snowstorm is available with both petrol and diesel engines
    2. Astor Blackstorm is only available with a naturally aspirated petrol engine

    MG Hector Snowstorm: what’s new?

Here’s a look at the detailed price list of the Hector Snowstorm:

The Hector is MG’s second SUV after the Gloster to receive the Snowstorm treatment. It has a dual-tone white and black exterior paint finish, and a dark chrome finish adorns the grille, the new bumper trims, the tail-gate garnish and the side body moulding. Additionally, the roof rails and headlamp bezels wear a gloss-black finish, and the tail-lamps have been smoked out. The Hector and MG logos all around also get a dark chrome effect.

The cabin is black with a gun-metal finish on the centre console, door handles, AC vents and steering wheel. The seat headrests have ‘Snowstorm’ embossed on them. The equipment list is the same as the regular Sharp Pro trim, and it is available in all 5-, 6- and 7-seater configurations. MG is also offering an optional accessory package that brings red inserts for the fog-lamp surround, the wing mirror caps and the tailgate garnish.

The Hector Snowstorm comes with two powertrain options – the 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with the CVT gearbox and the 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel unit with the manual gearbox. It is not available with the petrol-MT setup.

    MG Astor Blackstorm: what’s new?

Do note that the Astor got a Blackstorm Edition, but that was based on a higher-spec trim. This new variant is more accessible as its base is the mid-spec Select trim.

The new Astor Blackstorm has an all-black exterior finish with gloss-black door handles and side cladding, Blackstorm logos on the front fenders, red brake callipers and a smoked-out effect for the headlamps. The alloy wheels have a gloss-black finish.

The Astor Blackstorm’s cabin has Tuxedo Black upholstery with red stitching and ‘Blackstorm’ embroidered on the front seat headrests. There are red accents on the AC vents and red stitching on the steering wheel and door trims. Other than the new JBL speakers as part of an accessory fitment, the equipment list is unchanged from the regular Select trim.

The Astor Blackstorm is available with the 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The mill produces 110hp and 144Nm of peak torque.
