MG Motor will soon take the wraps off the new ZS SUV. The close-to-production form of the ZS was recently seen in Australia, where it's expected to go on sale later this year. The petrol-powered ZS is sold as the MG Astor in India, while the battery-powered version is sold here as the ZS EV.

Next-gen MG ZS SUV: what's new?

As seen from the patent images, the new ZS SUV gets fresh styling that is in-line with newer MG SUVs like the recently revealed MG HS. It gets a flatter nose, a much wider grille with rounded edges, and a new front bumper and headlamps.

The ZS looks quite similar to the outgoing model with an upswept window line and a decent-sized glasshouse. Wraparound tail-lamps, and a new look for the tailgate and rear bumper complete the styling updates on the new MG ZS.

There is no clarity on the powertrain options at the moment, but we expect that the SUV will continue to offer petrol and hybrid options, depending on the market and demand.

    Next-gen MG Astor launch timeline

The new ZS will go on sale in Australia first, where it's one of the most popular models in its segment. The ZS EV is also expected to get similar styling updates and go on sale later. We expect the new ZS to come to India next year, with the Cloud EV and Gloster facelift likely to go on sale in the coming months.
