Prices for the second-generation Skoda Kodiaq will be announced in India on April 17. The new Skoda Kodiaq will be offered in two trims – Laurin and Klement (L&K) and Sportline. It comes with new exterior styling and an all-new interior with more features and will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect.

    1. The new Kodiaq is powered by 204hp, 2.0-litre TSI engine
    2. It gets 3-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, massaging front seats
    3. It will be offered in two trims: Laurin and Klement, Sportline

    New Skoda Kodiaq exterior design

New design is an evolution of previous-gen Kodiaq

The new Kodiaq looks like an evolution of the previous-gen SUV. It continues with a split headlamp setup with new LED daytime running lamp signatures, and the grille now gets new illuminated portions. The C-shaped tail-lamps are connected by a light bar stretching the width of the tailgate. The new Kodiaq rides on 18-inch wheels as standard.

The Kodiaq Sportline gets blacked-out exterior garnishes.

The Laurin and Klement and Sportline trims are primarily set apart by a blacked-out treatment for the latter – the grille, D-pillar garnish, and rear bumper get a blacked-out finish instead of the silver on the Laurin and Klement. The Sportline also gets a sportier design for the alloy wheels.

New Skoda Kodiaq interior and features

Laurin and Klement and Sportline have slightly different feature lists

The dashboard of the new Kodiaq has a winged design with a 13-inch free-floating touchscreen infotainment taking centre stage. There’s also a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a new two-spoke steering wheel with ‘Skoda’ lettering, and three rotary dials for the HVAC controls, which are also configurable for other functions.

The Kodiaq Laurin and Klement gets Cognac leather upholstery.

In terms of features, the new Kodiaq gets 3-zone climate control, powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, park assist and heated/ventilated front seats with massage function on the L&K trim. The Sportline trim misses out on the heating/ventilation and massage functions but gets sportier bucket seats.

New Skoda Kodiaq powertrain and specs

    Gets a 204hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine

Under the hood, the new Kodiaq gets a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 204hp and 320Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox, and all-wheel drive is standard. The new Kodiaq has an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 14.86kpl.

The Kodiaq's wheelbase remains unchanged, but its overall length has grown by 59mm.

As before, the new Kodiaq will be locally assembled in India, and we expect prices to be around the Rs 45 lakh mark (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will see competition from the likes of the Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan R Line.
