The 911 Turbo 50 Years, revealed as recently as last month, is now on sale in India and priced from Rs 4.05 crore, ex-showroom. As its name implies, the model celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first 911 Turbo, and the company will make only 1,974 units of it.

    1. 911 Turbo 50 Years costs about Rs 70 lakh more than the Turbo S
    2. Gets a unique exterior and interior; pays nods to heritage models
    3. Power by 650hp, 800Nm, 3.7-litre flat-six twin-turbo petrol engine

The 50 Years model costs about Rs 70 lakh more than the Turbo S on sale in India, over Rs 2 crore more than the 911 Carrera and about Rs 1.26 crore more than the Carrera 4 GTS, which gets the new turbocharged hybrid engine. Do note that the 911 Carrera and the Carrera 4 GTS available in India are based on the latest 992.2 generation of the 911, while the 50 Years model and the Turbo S are based on the previous 992.1 generation.

This limited-run model sports vinyl graphics on the side that are a nod to the Porsche 911 RSR Turbo concept’s livery, along with unique turbo badging and logos, including on the rear engine cover grille and puddle lights. One can opt for the retro-themed Heritage Design Package that adds a new Aventurine Green Metallic paint finish and satin white graphics. In addition, this pack adds the 1964 Porsche crest on the bonnet and Sport Classic wheels, while the Turbo 50 and Porsche logos on the rear are finished in gold.

The 911 Turbo 50 Years’ cabin features seats and doors enveloped in classic Mackenzie tartan, and the exterior colour is used for highlights on the inside. The Heritage Design Package also adds instrument cluster dials and the Sport Chrono clock, with a green finish on both.

Like the previous 911 Turbo S, the 50 Years edition is powered by a 650hp, 800Nm 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six petrol engine. Porsche claims a 0-100kph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 330kph. Interestingly, the power output makes this limited edition model more than twice as powerful as the original 930 Turbo, which debuted in 1974.
