Tata Tiago, Tigor facelifts: what to expect?
The changes to the Tiago and Tigor will likely just be cosmetic in nature. Both models were last updated in January 2020 and have now started to show their age against much newer competition. So, revised front and rear ends with new bumpers, headlamps and tail-lamps can be expected, along with new features and upholstery for the interior.
The compact sedan segment, in particular, is seeing a resurgence with the new Maruti Dzire and the next-gen Honda Amaze, so Tata Motors has an opportunity to ride this wave. Meanwhile, in the hatchback segment, the Swift received a generational update this year, and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios also received a facelift earlier in 2023. All aforesaid models are a lot more contemporary and better equipped than Tata’s compact cars, which is reflected in their sales numbers.
The current generations of the Tiago and Tigor were first introduced in 2016, but the platform underpinning them is even older, tracing its roots to the Indica hatchback. There are talks of the next-generation Tiago and Tigor moving on to a new and more modern architecture, but the company is still finalising its details. Therefore, the new generation of these cars is a while away and could see the light of the day only by late 2026 or 2027. In the meantime, the facelifts will be crucial in keeping the Tiago and the Tigor up-to-date and relevant in the face of competition.
