    Tata Tiago variants explained

Launched at an introductory price of Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Tiago undercuts the pricing of all its rivals, across all trim levels.

Ranging from a bare-bones entry-level edition to a fully loaded top-spec model, the hatchback is available in five trim levels – XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ . The entry-level XB variant is quite basic and misses out on certain creature comforts. The most noticeable is the lack of an air-con system, with the car using a simple blower unit instead. However, it does get power steering, a flip-folding rear bench, remote boot opening and drive modes.

The XE trim gets the addition of air-conditioning and a 12V power outlet and not much else.

The mid variants get a fair bit of kit with both the XM and XT being quite well equipped for the price. The XM trim gets the addition of power windows front and rear, speed sensing door locks and follow-me-home headlamps. The XT trim also uses a Harman infotainment system though it’s only paired to four speakers. The trim also gets added convenience with the addition of electric adjust wing mirrors and rear parking sensors.

The top-spec XZ trim on the other hand, is well equipped. Apart from many standard fares of the segment, the car also gets a Harman infotainment system – but not a touchscreen – and eight speakers. The system also gets smartphone-based turn-by-turn navigation – a feature not available on any of its rivals. Also included are features such as a cooled glovebox, driver seat height adjust, alloy wheels and a multifunction steering.

Tata hasn’t skipped out on safety features. Dual airbags are standard on the top XZ trim but can be opted for on all but the base XB trim. ABS, however, is restricted to only the top-spec variant.

Here is a look at the features available at each trim level:

The XE, XM and XT get an option pack for an additional Rs18,000 that includes dual front airbags, height adjustable driver’s seat, driver seatbelt reminder and seatbelts with pre-tensioners.
