2022 Volkswagen Taigun First Anniversary Edition: styling updates

Volkswagen has introduced a new ‘Rising Blue’ colour scheme alongside the existing Curcuma Yellow and Wild Cherry Red, which are the only three colours offer on the First Anniversary Edition. The brand has also adorned the SUV with a ‘1st anniversary’ badge on the exterior as well as the interior. It also gets special Anniversary Edition specific elements like the black C-pillar graphics, door-edge protectors and black wing mirrors. The Taigun First Anniversary Edition retains the two-slat chrome grille at the front, a dual-tone roof, 17-inch alloy wheels and chrome inserts on the lower half of the front and rear bumpers.

2022 Volkswagen Taigun First Anniversary Edition: powertrain

The Taigun Anniversary Edition remains mechanically unchanged, and is powered by a 115hp, 175Nm, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that's mated to a 6-speed manual or torque converter automatic with paddle shifters.

Taigun variants getting the 1.0 TSI engine had received an update in May 2022, which added features like engine idle start/stop and a tyre pressure monitor as standard equipment. The brand claimed that engine start/stop has improved the fuel efficiency of the SUV by 6 percent, which has, in turn, increased the ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency for the SUV to 19.20kpl and 17.23kpl, for the manual and automatic, respectively.

    Volkswagen Taigun: rivals

The Volkswagen Taigun takes on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara midsize SUVs in our market.
