Bookings for the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line opened today, both on its website and at dealerships, ahead of the CBU’s launch on April 14. The brand’s India website also provides additional details on the Tiguan R-Line, including engine specifications and colour options.

204hp, 320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine

The India-spec Volkswagen Tiguan R Line gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 204hp and 320Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and VW’s 4Motion AWD system. The company claims a 0-100kph time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 229kph.

Volkswagen offers the Tiguan R Line in India in six monotone colour options. These include Persimmon Red Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Cipressino Green Metallic, and Oyster Silver Metallic.

ADAS suite, 12.9-inch touchscreen, 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line images on the brand’s website show that the interior gets sports seats, an ambient lighting package, a 10.3-inch digital instrument display, and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment. The infotainment system uses the latest version of VW’s MIB4 OS, which supports over-the-air updates. A drive selector on the centre console is also seen in the images, along with steering-mounted controls, an ADAS suite including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, and a dual-zone climate control system, with controls integrated into the infotainment touchscreen.

Expected to cost around Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom
Given that the standard Volkswagen Tiguan was last priced at Rs 38.17 lakh and was brought in as a CKD, the Tiguan R Line, being imported as a CBU, is expected to command a significant premium. Prices for the VW Tiguan R Line will likely be around Rs 50 lakh.
