Volkswagen will soon add a new special edition to the Vento India line-up, the Allstar. The new variant is expected to launch this month during VW’s Volksfest that will end in the second week of October. Like the VW Polo Allstar that had launched in November last year, the Vento Allstar will have a few cosmetic changes inside and out. The Allstar trim will sit below the top-spec Highline Plus variant but above the Highline trim offered on the midsize sedan.

The Allstar edition is based on the Vento’s mid-spec Comfortline trim but additionally features Linas alloy wheels, aluminium pedals, black and grey interiors, Pentastripe Anthrazit fabric seats, a leather wrapped handbrake and ‘Allstar’ badging on the scuff plate and B-pillar. Volkswagen will also offer a new Blue Silk finish similar to the one that the Polo Allstar sported.

However, the Allstar variant may miss out on the Highline Plus’ all-LED headlamps with daytime running lamps and the reverse camera.

This new trim will be available with the 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines though not on the 105hp, 1.2-llitre TSI motor. The 1.6-litre petrol engine develops 105hp and 175Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission while the 110hp/250Nm, 1.5-litre diesel mill gets the option of a five-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The VW Vento rivals the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and the newly launched Hyundai Verna. In a similar move to increase sales figures during the festive season, Skoda has also introduced the Rapid Monte Carlo. Interestingly, the special edition Rapid and Vento share the same powertrain options.
