Volkswagen Virtus GT Matte Edition to launch next month

    Volkswagen has revealed a new Carbon Steel Grey Matte exterior paint shade for the Virtus GT Edge limited collection, and its prices will be announced in October 2023. The GT Edge Plus limited collection on the Virtus was previously available only in the Deep Black Pearl shade.

    Virtus GT Edge Carbon Steel Grey Matte price, bookings

    Volkswagen has confirmed that online bookings for the matte editions are already underway from September 11, with deliveries slated to beging next month. VW has also said delivery times are  estimated to be a minimum of six weeks, and will be on a first come, first served basis. The matte variants will only be available in limited numbers.

    Virtus GT Edge Carbon Steel Grey Matte details

    The Virtus GT Edge collection includes features available with the regular Virtus GT, alongside some exclusive features such as aluminium pedals, cherry red leatherette upholstery and red ambient lighting. The most distinctive element here is the dark matte grey paint shade. The Virtus boasts of a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating and features up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, a tyre pressure monitor, among others.

    Virtus GT engine details

    The Virtus GT is powered by a 150hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that's available with both a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG automatic. The Virtus GT has a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.6kpl for the 7-speed DSG whilst the manual variant boasts a fuel efficiency of 18.8kpl. However, in our testing with the DSG gearbox, we got between 9-10kpl in the city and around 15.6kpl on the highway.

    Volkswagen India lineup

    Volkswagen's India line-up is currently limited to three models: the Taigun, the Virtus and the Tiguan. However, aiming to keep the line-up fresh and exciting, the German marque has introduced special editions for both the Taigun midsize SUV and the Virtus. Whilst Volkswagen hasn't formally announced any plans to expand their portfolio, they plan to launch the Tayron as a replacement for the Tiguan Allspace in 2025 through CKD kits. The all-electric ID.4 is also on cards for India as a CBU import.
