Volvo is set to launch the V40, the standard variant of its V40 Cross Country crossover hatchback. The standard V40 will lose out on the body cladding and will sit lower to the ground than its Cross Country sibling.
In terms of styling, the V40 will conform to the same basic design as the Cross Country. The features on the car are likely to be those on the V40 Cross Country. Volvo has not revealed what the hatchback will offer in the Indian market, but high levels of occupant safety are expected to be offered as standard.
In terms of engines, the V40 probably will be powered by the same D3 diesel and T4 petrol engines currently offered on the V40 Cross Country, though it remains to be seen if both models will be introduced together or over a period of time.
The V40 will rival the likes of the Mercedes A-class in the market when it goes on sale. Expect prices to be somewhere around the same mark as the A-class, with Volvo importing the V40 as CBUs.
