Hyundai is one of the top three carmakers in India. The Korean brand entered the Indian market in 1998 with the Santro, and the line-up has since expanded to 14 models. Hyundai cars and SUVs are popular in India thanks to features like a sunroof, diesel engine options and automatic gearboxes in almost all models. Hyundai India has two manufacturing plants, both located near Chennai, with a third plant in Talegaon opening shortly. Most Hyundai cars and SUVs are made-in-India. The Alcazar is Hyundai’s three-row SUV based on the Creta that rivals the Hector Plus and the Mahindra Scorpio N in our market. The brand has plans to launch more electric cars in India, which could include an entry-level electric hatchback and also the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in the future.
