BMW Group India recorded a growth of over 51 percent in the first quarter of 2024 on the back of high demand for its SUVs, the ‘Luxury Class’ models and its EVs. Models like the BMW X7, X3, X1 and 3 Series were reportedly sold out during the period. During January-March 2024, BMW delivered 3,510 cars, Mini sold 170 units and BMW Motorrad sold 1,810 motorcycles.

Vikram Pawah, president, BMW Group India said, “BMW Group India has posted strong performance in the first quarter of the year. Breaking earlier records, Q1 car sales achieved new heights with successful growth of 51 percent.”
BMW Group Electric Vehicles delivered 211 units in the first quarter (January to March 2024), posting a growth of over 26 percent. The BMW i7 was the brand’s largest selling EV, and apart from this, the range includes the iX, i4, iX1 and Mini Cooper SE. The much-awaited BMW i5 will be launched soon and will further augment the EV portfolio, the press release noted.
The BMW Luxury Class, which comprises models such as the 7 Series, i7, X7 and the XM, posted massive growth of over 152 percent and contributed 20 percent to total sales; the X7 was the highest selling Luxury Class model.
BMW’s SUVs contributed 54 percent to sales and grew by over 62 percent. The X1 was the highest selling SUV, with around 20 percent share in sales. Meanwhile, the BMW 3 Series was the brand’s bestselling sedan, with a 16 percent share in sales. The company claims that the 3 Series has become the class-leading sedan in its segment.
