Mercedes-Benz V-class Marco Polo is your home on wheels

The Mercedes-Benz V-class Marco Polo is the latest addition to the carmaker’s luxury MPV range. The Marco Polo has been priced at Rs 1.38 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India), which means it sits at the top of the V-class range, even above the Elite variant (priced at Rs 1.10 crore). There's two variants of the V-class Marco Polo to choose from - the 'entry-level' Marco Polo Horizon and the 'standard' Marco Polo, which is priced at Rs 1.46 crore.

This latest iteration of the V-class is geared towards outdoor camping. When in camper mode, the Marco Polo is capable of accommodating up to four people and is designed to be your home on wheels. The top-spec V-Class Marco Polo comes replete with a sofa-cum-bed, a wardrobe, a fold-out table, a 40-litre fridge and a fully equipped kitchenette. There's wood finish on the floor too. In entry-level Horizon spec, the V-class Marco Polo misses out on the kitchenette, the wardrobes and a few other home comforts.

Under the hood, the Marco Polo comes with a 2.0-litre, four cylinder turbo-diesel engine which is good for 163hp and 380Nm of torque (specs for V220d variant). This is the same engine that powers its V-class Elite sibling. The engine is paired to a 9-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox, with power sent to the rear wheels.

In terms of dimensions, the Marco Polo is based on the long-wheelbase version of the V-class (same as the V-class Elite). This means the Marco Polo measures 5,140mm in length, 1,928mm in width, 1,901mm in height and it has a 3,200mm wheelbase.

The luxury camper doesn’t have any direct competitors; and as such, it caters to a very niche group of customers that are looking for a mobile ‘mini-home’.
