Hero MotoCorp has launched the Glamour Xtec, starting at Rs 78,900 for the drum variant and Rs 83,500 for the disc variant.

  • Gets a fully-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity
  • Also features an LED headlight compared to the regular Glamour’s halogen unit
  • USB charger offered as standard

The Hero nametag has always been synonymous with value-for-money, and it has just reinforced that image with the launch of the new Glamour Xtec. Essentially a new variant of its Glamour 125cc commuter motorcycle, this one comes loaded with a bunch of features, including some that are first-in-segment.

Hero Glamour Xtec: features

The biggest change from the regular Glamour is a new fully-digital instrument cluster. Not only does it give you a fair deal of information, including gear position and fuel consumption data, it also features Bluetooth connectivity, making it the most affordable petrol-powered motorcycle to come equipped with it. And unlike the systems seen on certain other bikes, this one isn’t just a brochure-filler.

The Glamour Xtec gets call and SMS alerts, as well as turn-by-turn navigation, facilitated by Google Maps. All this, while still being priced on par with its biggest rival, the Honda SP125, which doesn’t get Bluetooth connectivity.

Like the SP125, the new Glamour Xtec also features an LED headlight, which Hero claims is 34 percent brighter than the halogen unit employed on the standard Glamour. Other new features include a side-stand engine cut-off function, and a roll-over sensor that kills the engine if the bike falls over.

Hero Glamour Xtec: engine

Mechanically, the Xtec remains unchanged to the regular Glamour, which means that it gets a 124.7cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces10.87hp and 10.6Nm. It also features Hero’s i3S engine stop-start system to aid fuel efficiency.

All in all, Hero seems to have knocked it out of the park with the Glamour Xtec, at least on paper. As with any technology, Bluetooth connectivity is beginning to trickle down to smaller and more affordable motorcycles and we’re glad to see Hero pioneering the technology in the 125cc commuter segment.
