KTM has finally launched the 390 Adventure with wire-spoke rims at Rs 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Those looking to do some serious off-roading with the 390 Adventure have been demanding a variant with wire-spoke rims, and KTM has finally answered their prayers.
New 19-inch front, 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels
Wheels shod with tube-type Metzeler Tourance tyres
Gets adjustable WP fork and monoshock
KTM 390 Adventure wire-spoke wheels variant: details
The bike has aluminium wire-spoke rims that are shod with tube-type Metzeler Tourance tyres. Wire-spoke rims have an advantage over cast-alloy wheels in their ability to absorb big impacts, say hitting a rock while riding down a trail. That said, encountering a puncture with tube-type tyres is a hassle to repair/replace as it entails taking the wheel off to get to the punctured tube.
On the other hand, KTM has also introduced adjustable suspension on the 390 Adventure. While the company calls it “fully adjustable”, note that the fork is adjustable for compression and rebound (both by 30 clicks) only and there is no preload adjustability. The monoshock, meanwhile, gets a 10-step preload and 20-step rebound adjustability.
Besides these new additions, this variant is also available in a new Rally Orange colour.
At Rs 3.6 lakh, this is the most expensive KTM 390 Adventure variant. It has the same features – like the TFT display traction control, cornering ABS and quickshifter, among others – as the cast alloy wheeled, non-adjustable fork-equipped lower variant that’s priced at Rs 3.39 lakh. If that’s too much of a stretch for you, there’s an even more basic variant called the 390 Adventure X.
