BMW Motorrad recently confirmed on its social media channels that it will be launching its first maxi-scooter in India soon. We now know that this will be the C 400 GT.

    • India launch in September or October
    • Expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom)
    • Powered by a 350cc single-cylinder engine

The Indian market has gained a few ‘maxi-style’ scooters over the years – models that attempt to mimic the design and dimensions of a maxi-scooter, but with a smaller engine. But we’re yet to receive our first true-blue maxi-scooter. That is all set to happen very soon, with BMW Motorrad gearing up to launch its C 400 GT in India very soon.

BMW C 400 GT: India launch and expected price

We can confirm that an official India launch will take place in September or October, and the C 400 GT will be priced at around Rs 10 lakh. That sounds like a whole lot for a 350cc scooter, but this model is priced between Rs 6-7.5 lakh even overseas. And if you’re willing to look past the displacement figure, it does bring quite a lot to the table.

BMW C 400 GT: specs and features

Standard fitment includes full-LED lighting, a large windscreen, keyless operation, riding modes, USB charging, a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and even traction control. The options list features items like heated grips, though it’s not yet certain whether all the overseas options will make their way to India. The 350cc,single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor produces 34hp and 35Nm and comes mated to a CVT.

Even with all this equipment, the C 400 GT is going to be an extremely expensive proposition, reserved only for the fortunate few who want (and can afford) the convenience of a gearless scooter but with a high-end luxury experience. These lucky customers will receive a vehicle that should be well-suited to both city errand runs as well as inter-city highway stints.
