Honda Activa 6G launched at Rs 63,912

Honda has launched the BS6-compliant version of the 110cc Activa. Called the Activa 6G, the scooter is available as a standard variant priced at Rs 63,912, and a Deluxe variant that costs Rs 65,412 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Activa 6G costs Rs 7,500 over its corresponding BS4- compliant Activa 5G model.

The transition to the stricter emission norms has brought some notable changes to the engine. The single-cylinder motor on the BS6 Activa is 109.51cc compared to the 109.19cc motor on the BS4-spec scooter, and is now fuel-injected unlike the carburetted BS4 model. Despite the slightly larger engine, power output sees a slight drop of 0.17hp – down from 7.96hp at 7,500rpm to 7.79hp at 8,000rpm. Torque, too, is down from 9Nm at 5,500rpm to 8.79Nm at 5,250rpm. The Activa 6G also gets a ‘Silent Start’ system, a feature we recently saw on the new Activa 125 BS6. Honda also claims that the new Activa 6G is 10 percent more fuel efficient.

Other significant updates on the Activa 6G include the addition of a telescopic fork and a larger 12-inch front wheel instead of a 10-incher. The pass light switch and external fuel filler cap that can be opened via a switch near the keyhole are a few other features that have made their way down to the smaller Activa from the Activa 125.

The Activa 6G is the second BS6-compliant 110cc scooter to launch in our market, after the TVS Jupiter Classic (Rs 67,911), joining a list of 125cc+ scooters that have made the switch to the more stringent emission norms. The Honda Activa is the highest-selling scooter in our country and we’ll have to wait a couple weeks to see what else this updated iteration has in store for us.
