Almost six years since it was first announced, Tork Motors will finally be launching its first electric bike on Republic Day. Back then, it was announced as the T6X, with claims of a 100kph top speed and 100km range. Today, it’s known as the Kratos, and the numbers associated with it are expected to be more impressive.

The company has faced delays and financial hurdles along the way, but seems to have overcome them for the moment. It’s just as well, then, that the Kratos will feature a made-in-India electric motor and battery pack. The motor in question is an axial flux type of motor which Tork claims achieves “a groundbreaking 96 percent efficiency.”

Back in 2016, the company had announced a target price of Rs 1.25 lakh. A lot has changed since then, though. Input costs have gone up dramatically, but at the same time, strong government subsidies for EVs have also been introduced. So it will be interesting to see where the Kratos ends up being priced. Tork says online bookings will open following the launch, and deliveries will begin in March.
