Hyundai is all set to introduce the second-gen Grand i10 in the Indian market on August 20, 2019. The new Grand i10 will be seen sporting fresh styling on its exterior and interior and is likely to carry over the vast array of features from the current car. The hatchback will get a new fluidic design front grille (wider than the current model's), new alloy wheel design, sharper headlights and a new tail-light design, among other styling changes.
On the inside, the second-gen Grand i10 will get a new dashboard layout and is also expected to get part-digital-part analogue instrument cluster. We can confirm that it will come with an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, similar to the unit seen in the recently launched Venue compact SUV. This infotainment system will also feature Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car technology.
Power for the next-gen Grand i10 will come from a BS6-compliant version of the existing 83hp, 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. This engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and the torque converter automatic unit will make way for a more affordable AMT automatic. A BS6-compliant version of the U2, 1.2-litre diesel will also be offered.
Hyundai is expected to sell the current model alongside the new Grand i10, but will give it the 'Prime' suffix and target it at the fleet segment.
In our market, the Hyundai Grand i10 rivals the likes of the Ford Figo and the Maruti Suzuki Swift. In addition to this, the next-gen Hyundai Xcent has been spied for the first time, and it is expected to be launched in India in 2020.
