The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios facelift takes a sensible city hatch and gives it a touch more style without going overboard. The front end gets a larger grille and new LED daytime running lights integrated into a reshaped bumper that add a fresher, more appealing face. The 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels get a new design while the rear gains a reprofiled bootlid and updated tail lamps linked by a reflector band, lifting the overall presence.
Under the skin, the architecture remains unchanged, built around a straightforward and durable platform. This underpins a compact hatch that is easy to live with in tight urban settings thanks to light, city-friendly steering and good manoeuvrability.
8
Inside, changes are minimal but practical. The analogue instrument cluster replaces the old digital read-out and new lighter upholstery brightens the cabin ambience. The dashboard layout is simple and logical, with a well-placed touchscreen that adds to everyday usability.
Front seats offer decent support for a city car and the driving position feels intuitive. Rear seats are surprisingly roomy for two adults, though a third person across the back is a squeeze. Boot space remains a strong suit with a 260-litre capacity capable of swallowing a large suitcase easily.
8
The facelifted Nios now comes only with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that meets newer emission norms and can run on E20 fuel. There’s no diesel or 1.0-litre turbo option anymore. The petrol unit is refined and easy-going, with smooth responses in city traffic.
Power delivery is adequate for daily use but it is not particularly punchy, especially when overtaking on open roads. The engine’s refinement is a highlight for the segment, with minimal harshness in normal driving.
The gearbox line-up includes a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The manual is light and friendly, while the AMT adds convenience in stop-go traffic, though peak refinement and responses are typical of AMT behaviour rather than a fully seamless automatic.
8
Mileage figures sit comfortably in the expected range for a small petrol hatch. Official figures and real-world use suggest fuel efficiency in the mid to high teens in km per litre for the petrol variants, making it sensible for daily commuting and short highway runs alike. The light engine and gearbox contribute to respectable economy in mixed use without demanding frequent stops at the pump.
7
The Grand i10 Nios lives up to its city focus. Suspension absorbs typical urban road irregularities with a compliant ride, while light steering aids easy turns and parking. Fast highway runs are manageable, though steering feel remains light rather than confidence-inspiring, and body motions are most at home at moderate speeds.
7
The facelift adds practical feature upgrades such as cruise control and Type-C USB charging. Higher-spec models pack an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, push-button start, auto climate control, wireless charging and rear AC vents.
Safety has been boosted with front and side airbags standard across trims, and top variants also include curtain airbags. Stability control, hill start assist, ISOFIX child-seat mounts and tyre pressure monitoring system help the Nios exceed regulatory safety norms for its class.
7
The facelifted Grand i10 Nios slots between entry-level rivals and higher-spec hatchbacks. Its refined engine, practical space, generous features and strong safety kit make it a sensible and well-rounded city car for buyers prioritising everyday usability over outright performance.

•2wHi, I currently use a Grand i10 Nios and am planning to buy an SUV. My driving is mostly in the city, with occasional highway drives. I am looking for feature-rich interiors, good fuel economy, and decent on-road presence, while power is a secondary priority. My budget is ₹15-18 lakh.

Autocar India
Given your intended use, the Kia Seltos HTK (O) IVT is the one we would pick. It gives you a rich-feeling cabin and good features for the price, the IVT automatic (CVT in Kia terminology) is very smooth in traffic, and its size and styling give you the “bigger car” feel you want after a Grand i10 Nios. It will also return sensible fuel economy in the city if you drive with a light foot, and it stays stable on the highway at normal cruising speeds. It's not the punchiest powertrain, but as you've mentioned, that's not a priority here. If fuel economy matters more than cabin flash, look at the Maruti Victoris ZXi AT. It is not as fancy inside as the Seltos, nor as spacious, but it is very easy to drive in town, uses less fuel in daily use, and has a calm, comfortable ride for family trips.

•6wI would like to buy a smaller car than the Baleno I am currently driving. I prefer an automatic/AMT, as I am 64 years old and a retired banker. My budget is under ₹9 lakh. What do you recommend?

Autocar India
Opt for the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R ZXi+ AMT. It fits your brief for a smaller, easy automatic under Rs. 9 lakh. Compared to your Baleno, the Wagon R feels much easier in the city. It is shorter, turns in a tighter space, and is simple to park. The AMT is tuned well here, so starts and slow traffic are smooth enough, and the steering and pedals are very light. The seat is set at a friendly height, so getting in and out will be easier than in many low cars. Maruti’s service network is everywhere, which means stress-free ownership. One thing to be aware of is that the cabin will feel simpler than your Baleno, and on rough roads, you may feel more movement. It is fine for daily city runs, but on highways, it might not feel as solid as bigger cars. If you want a plusher cabin and a bit more comfort, look at the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz (O) AMT. It too has a smooth AMT, but is a tad larger in size than the Wagon R.During the test drive, try some stop-and-go traffic and tight parking situations to assess smoothness and visibility.

•7wHi, We currently own a 2004 Hyundai Santro and are looking to upgrade to a new car suitable for my parents, who are around 55 years old. My father prefers the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios AMT, as the car will be mainly used for city driving of around 500–700 km per month. In Bangalore, the on-road price for the Sportz (O) variant comes to approximately ₹8.8–9 lakh. Considering this price, are there any better alternatives we should consider, or would the Grand i10 Nios AMT be a good choice for our needs?

Autocar India
For your requirement, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz (O) AMT is a very sensible and well-suited choice. It is compact, easy to drive and park in city conditions like Bengaluru. The light steering, along with the AMT gearbox, makes stop-and-go traffic much less tiring, which is ideal for your parents. It also offers a comfortable ride and a familiar hatchback form factor, making it an easy upgrade from your current Santro.Given your monthly running of 500-700 km, a small petrol automatic fits perfectly, and Hyundai’s strong service support adds to the peace of mind. That said, one thing to be aware of is that AMT gearboxes can feel slightly jerky at low speeds. If smoothness and comfort are a higher priority, you could consider slightly stretching the budget for options with smoother automatic gearboxes like the Hyundai i20. It comes with a more refined IVT/CVT option and offers a more seamless driving experience. If your parents would prefer a higher seating position for easier ingress and better visibility, the Hyundai Exter AMT is also worth considering as an alternative.

•9wI am planning to buy a car within a budget of ₹8 lakh. My preferred choice is the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG. Could you please suggest some better alternative options, considering CNG variants?

Autocar India
For your requirement, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG is a very sensible choice. It stands out for its smooth and easy driving nature, light controls, and it feels premium on the inside, too, which makes it a well-rounded package. It will also offer you low running costs and hassle-free ownership. At this price point, there aren’t many options that clearly feel like an upgrade over the Nios in CNG form, so rather than looking for a better alternative, it makes more sense to focus on what matters to you. If you value comfort, ease of driving and overall refinement, the Nios remains one of the most well-rounded options available. The key is to take a proper test drive in CNG mode with a full load and AC on, and see if the performance meets your expectations. If it does, you can go ahead with confidence, as it already fits your requirements very well.

•10wI am a senior citizen, and my weekly car use is around 100 km within the city, with occasional highway trips every 3-4 months. I have shortlisted the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Punch Pure Plus. My main priorities are value for money, long-term reliability, and ease of ownership. Considering my usage and requirements, which of these two cars would be the better choice in the long run?

Autocar India
Both are very good cars, but in the long run, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios would be the better option for you overall. Yes, it is quite an old model now, but it remains strong in its core values of practicality, ease of use, quality, refinement and fuel efficiency. It's easy to get in and out of; the steering is light, aiding manoeuvrability; the engine is smooth and has more than enough gusto when you need it; and it has a good feature set at this price, too. Most of all, however, long-term maintenance will be a breeze, as Hyundai has developed a strong reputation for reliability and reasonable maintenance costs.

•11wI own Nissan Micra XVCVT,2013 Year.I want to go for exchange.I want to go for Hyundai I10 Nios Corporate semi Automatic car.Your suggestion required.Eagerly awaiting your positive Reply.

Autocar India
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Petrol-AMT is an excellent, user-friendly city car. The engine is smooth, refined and fuel-efficient. Do keep in mind that the drive experience with the AMT will not be nearly as seamless as your Micra CVT, however by AMT standards, the Nios' unit is quite smooth. So if you are on a tight budget, go for the Nios. But if you can extend your budget slightly, we'd highly recommend you to consider the Hyundai i20 Magna Petrol-IVT. Not only is the i20 a much bigger, more spacious and more premium offering, but its petrol-IVT combination is smooth and seamless, something as a Nissan Micra CVT owner, you will appreciate.

•15wI want to purchase a first car for my daughter. I am interested in an automatic car mainly for city use. Monthly usage will be approximately 1,200 km. The car should be under ₹9 lakh. How is the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and what mileage can I expect from the AMT?

Autocar India
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is a good choice. It’s spacious for its size, comfortable, and very easy to drive in the city. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is smooth, and while the AMT adds convenience, it isn’t the slickest in the segment. In real-world conditions, you can expect around 10-12 kpl in the city and 15-16 kpl on the highway.Another car you can consider is the Maruti Suzuki Swift. It has a proven, reliable engine paired with a smoother AMT, and it is unbeatable on fuel efficiency. In our real-world tests, it delivered over 12 kpl in the city and over 19 kpl on the highway.

•24wI am looking for an automatic car for city commuting. My average monthly running will be around 1,000 km. My budget is around Rs 10 lakh. I have shortlisted the Honda Amaze VX, Hyundai i20 Sportz, and Hyundai Nios. Please suggest which one I should buy.

Autocar India
We suggest the Honda Amaze VX or the Hyundai i20 Sportz automatic, as both use smoother and more premium CVT transmissions compared to the basic AMT in the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.Between the two, the Hyundai i20 IVT is the better pick. It feels more premium and, as a hatchback, is more practical with folding rear seats for added luggage space. It is also spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped in the Sportz variant you are considering.

•26wI find my i10 suspension too soft. I can feel even the slightest bump on the road. Is there any way to ask the service centre to tune it?

Autocar India
Your dampers may be worn out, which could make the ride feel excessively bouncy, particularly at speed. Replacing your dampers should ideally solve your problem, giving you a similar experience to when the car was new.Age can also affect the performance of your vehicle's springs, so you might want to get those checked, too. Also, you could experiment with the tyre pressure to find the ideal balance, as sometimes the manufacturer's recommended settings might not be as per your comfort.

•26wI am a newly learned driver and want to buy a car up to ₹10 lakh. I prefer a model that is easy to drive in the city and simple to park. Could you suggest which car is better for me?

Autocar India
You may consider the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, which is compact for the city, and with light controls and good visibility all around, it is very easy to drive. If you prefer the 'SUV-like' high seating position, and something a bit more spacious, you could consider the Nissan Magnite too.
