- Waiting periods are over 10 months at most locations
- Mahindra Thar currently priced between Rs 12.10-14.15 lakh
Mahindra Thar booking and waiting periods
Those who book the Mahindra Thar today will have to wait over 10 months for delivery at most locations, dealer sources tell us. Strong demand for the off-roader has also seen Mahindra ramp up Thar production.
Grounds-up the all-new Thar is far more user-friendly, comfortable and refined than its predecessor, and is currently priced between Rs 12.10-14.15 lakh. There are four powertrain options on offer with the second-gen Thar – a 152hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 132hp, 2.2-litre diesel, both of which get 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
At launch, the Thar was also available with side-facing rear seats though that had been discontinued in December. However, buyers can still choose from hard top and convertible body styles, which are on offer with both, the AX Opt trim and the top-spec LX variant. The Thar comes with all the basic safety kit and has secured a four-star Global NCAP safety rating.
Mahindra is working on a five-door Thar that will have a longer wheelbase along with more interior space. The current three-door Thar is already far more upmarket and approachable than the first-gen model and the launch of a 5-door will only widen its appeal.
