Mahindra is working on introducing a new electric SUV in its range in the form of a battery-powered version of the XUV 3XO. The upcoming XUV 3XO EV has been spied on test for the first time, confirming that it is inching closer to launch.

- To be positioned below XUV400
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV spy shots: what’s new?
The spy shots show the XUV 3XO EV fully wrapped in camouflage. However, the C-shaped LED daytime running lamps are visible, and so is a part of the front grille. Over the ICE version, the EV is expected to feature minimal changes like restyled bumpers, a revised grille and, of course, different badging. Also new will be the alloy wheels, which might even have plastic insets for better efficiency.
The XUV 3XO EV will be sold alongside the XUV400, sitting below the latter in the carmaker’s EV portfolio. Since the XUV 3XO is positioned in the sub-4-metre slab, the fully-electric version will have similar dimensions, making it about 200mm less than the XUV400 in length. The boot space will also likely be less than its elder sibling.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV: specs, expected price
As reported earlier, the e-SUV will come with a 35kWh battery, which is smaller than the 40kWh one seen on the larger XUV400 EV. But as of now, there are no details on the range or electric motor specifications. The XUV 3XO EV will be positioned below XUV400 and will likely undercut the latter by around Rs 2 lakh. For reference, the XUV400 is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 19.39 lakh, while the Tata Nexon EV is priced from Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh.
