The all-new Hyundai Grand i10, expected to hit showrooms sometime around Diwali this year, is currently being test-driven at several locations across India. The test cars are camouflaged, and so we can’t see too much of the design. What we expect is for the new Hyundai Grand i10 to be priced in the region of Rs 5-8.5 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom). Like the current model, the new Hyundai Grand i10 will rival the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo.
Seen a lot of, however, and that too on several occasions is the interior of the Grand i10. And from what we’ve seen, we can tell you that Hyundai looks set to raise the bar in this class as well. To begin with, the interiors appear to be a lot more spacious than the current car. And this has primarily been done by using a more space-efficient dashboard and slimmer seats than on the current car. The seats, however, are more accommodating, and now get adjustable headrests too.
The design of the dash isn’t too radical. The centre console protrudes out a bit and there’s a nice ledge for passengers to keep their phone and other odds and ends, but other than that nothing really stands out under all the camo. The lower-spec cars don’t have too many goodies either. You get twin dials in the instrument panel, an info display at the centre, the gear lever from the Santro, and what looks like centrally located power window buttons. Even keyless go is likely to be given a miss on these variants.
Top-spec versions, however, are likely to get a wide 7.0 or 8.0-inch touchscreen and the instrument panel will also be very different. Unlike the lower-spec cars, there’s only one speedo dial, and the rest of the instrument panel is taken up by what looks like a wide info display. You will also get electronic climate control.
