The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was first spied in India a couple of days back, but this time, the compact sedan has been spotted winter testing in Himachal Pradesh. The spy shots reveal that it’ll sport a segment-first feature at launch – a sunroof.
- New Dzire likely to be the most feature-rich compact sedan
- It’ll share most of its mechanicals with the Swift
- Dzire CNG is expected to follow after petrol model launch
2024 Maruti Dzire interior highlights, features, exterior
We expect the Dzire compact sedan to have more or less the same feature set as the new and upcoming Swift, but the addition of a sunroof will definitely set the Dzire apart in the segment. It's not known if the new Swift will also receive a sunroof though. In international right-hand-drive markets, such as the UK and Japan, the new-gen Swift does not get a sunroof.
In top-spec form, the Dzire is likely to be the best equipped model in its class thanks to the sunroof. Other expected features include a floating 9.0-inch touchscreen unit, steering-mounted cruise control and infotainment buttons, a large digital MID, an auto climate control system, and keyless entry and go, among other creature comforts. Although all these are already available on the new Swift overseas, the ADAS tech is unlikely to make it to the Indian-spec Swift or Dzire. On the other hand, Maruti could equip the compact sedan with a 360-degree camera.
The overall design of the Dzire’s cabin, from the dashboard to the seats, will be shared with its hatchback sibling – the aesthetic, switchgear and buttons will be familiar to the Baleno or Fronx. The Dzire is likely to have lighter colour materials, and touches of brushed aluminium and faux wood to help set it apart.
As we reported when the Dzire was first spotted testing, the sedan will look a lot like the hatchback it is based on, barring the rear. Nearly every body panel, from the nose to the rear door, is identical. However, the compact sedan does get a straighter roofline and a new rear glass.
2024 Maruti Dzire powertrains
At launch, the Dzire will share its 1.2-litre Z Series petrol engine with the Swift; in the Japanese market, this three-cylinder unit makes 82hp and 108Nm of torque, and also comes with a mild-hybrid option. A 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT are expected to be offered, and a CNG-powered version will arrive soon after.
2024 Maruti Dzire price, rivals
Considering the current Maruti Dzire is priced between Rs 6.57 lakh-9.39 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, we expect the new model to be priced in the Rs 7 lakh-10 lakh bracket. Maruti’s compact sedan will continue to rival the Hyundai Aura (Rs 6.49 lakh-9.05 lakh), Honda Amaze (Rs 7.16 lakh-9.10 lakh) and Tata Tigor (Rs 6.30 lakh-9.55 lakh). Tata's compact sedan recently debuted a segment-first of its own, an automatic CNG model.
