The Hyundai Alcazar fills the gap between the Creta and Tucson in the carmaker’s India portfolio, and goes up against other three-row SUV offerings in our market, like the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.

The Alcazar is available in three variants – Prestige, Platinum and Signature – with automatic versions getting added kit. Launched in a competitive space, the Hyundai SUV is packed to the rafters with equipment, even in the base trim. As such, prices for the Alcazar start at Rs 16.30 lakh, and top off at Rs 19.99 lakh.
Standard safety features include rear disc brakes, ABS, EBD, ESC, hill start assist, auto headlamps, LED fog lamps, tyre pressure monitor, auto-dimming interior rear view mirror, rear defogger and wiper, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts and dual airbags.
Following a popular trend, Hyundai has introduced the Alcazar in 6-seat (with captain’s seats in the second row) and 7-seat (with middle-row bench seats) versions, with the option of petrol and diesel engines, as well as manual and automatic gearboxes, on offer.

Hyundai Alcazar engine-gearbox
The Alcazar gets a 2.0-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that puts out 159hp and 191Nm. For those who prefer diesels, there’s also a 115hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre oil burner on offer. No matter the drivetrain, power is transmitted solely to the front wheels through either a 6-speed manual, or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
