After introducing its dual-cylinder CNG setup in the Exter, Hyundai India has brought out the Grand i10 Nios hatchback with the same layout. This is said to have helped liberate more space in the boot. It's available in two mid-spec variants, and is priced between Rs 7.75 lakh and Rs 8.30 lakh.

The dual-cylinder CNG Nios costs Rs 7,000 more than the single-cylinder CNG versions (which will continue to be on sale) and about Rs 97,000 more than the petrol variants. The CNG kit is offered on the mid-spec Magna and Sportz trims, which share the same equipment and safety features as the petrol models.
The 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine produces 69hp and 95Nm of torque on CNG, and 83hp and 114Nm on petrol. Hyundai only offers a 5-speed manual with the Nios CNG, while the petrol variants get a 5-speed AMT option as well.
The Tata Tiago is the only other model in its class to get a dual-cylinder CNG setup, with the manual variants priced between Rs 6.60 lakh and Rs 8.35 lakh. However, Tata’s small CNG hatchback also gets a 5-speed AMT gearbox option, priced between Rs 7.90 lakh and 8.90 lakh. Other rivals to the Nios CNG are Maruti’s CNG-powered Wagon R (Rs 6.45-6.80 lakh) and Celerio (Rs 6.74 lakh).
