Hyundai Venue: more power for diesel engine
The Venue now comes with the same 115hp diesel engine that sees duty on the Hyundai Creta and Alcazar and also the Kia Sonet, Seltos and Carens. As far as petrol engines go, the Venue continues with the same 1.2-litre NA and the 1.0-litre turbo, similar to the outgoing model.
Hyundai replaced the 100hp, 240Nm diesel on the Venue that got the fixed geometry turbo (FGT), with the 115hp, 250Nm unit that comes with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT). The brand is pulling the plug on the 100hp iteration of this engine, due to the upcoming RDE norms.

This engine continues to power only the i20, and while the Venue gets an engine upgrade, the i20 diesel will face the axe and soon be petrol only. Using the same 115hp engine on the Venue would make sense as it will help with greater economies of scale as almost every other Hyundai-Kia model in their India line-up is powered by this motor. Additionally, Hyundai has equipped the Venue with an integrated starter generator (ISG) with start-stop function that will aid fuel economy.
Hyundai Venue: more features on some variants
The Venue continues to be offered in 6 trims – E, S, S+, S(O), SX, SX(O) – and while the variant line-up remains unchanged, Hyundai has slightly reshuffled the equipment list across the board. The Venue now gets 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels only on the top-spec SX(O), while these were offered on the SX diesel previously.

The Venue petrol now gets side airbags from the S(O) variant onwards, while the curtain airbags are offered only on top-spec Venue SX(O) petrol. On the other hand, the Venue diesel now gets curtain and side airbags from the SX trim onwards. Previously, both side and curtain airbags were limited to just the top-spec Venue SX(O). However, the Venue SX diesel now misses out on a rear seat recliner and armrest.
Hyundai Venue: rivals in India
The Venue competes with a long list of compact SUVs like the Kia Sonet (Rs 7.69 lakh-12.84 lakh), Maruti Suzuki Brezza (Rs 8.19 lakh-13.88 lakh), Tata Nexon (Rs 7.80 lakh-14.30 lakh), Renault Kiger (Rs 6 lakh-10.77 lakh), Nissan Magnite (Rs 5.97 lakh-10.63 lakh) and also the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
