Hero Xtreme 125R vs TVS Raider 125

We’ve tested the Hero Xtreme 125R and the TVS Raider 125 head-to-head and, during that time, ran both motorcycles through our performance tests. Despite having the same displacement and similar output figures, both motorcycles showcase different levels of performance due to a significant difference in weight.

    Engine and brakes

Both motorcycles get a motor with the same displacement of 125cc. The Hero is down by 1Nm in torque, whereas the TVS gets iGo Assist, which boosts the torque from 11.2Nm to 11.7Nm for a short burst. The Hero Xtreme 125R does have slightly more power, but the difference is negligible.

Our acceleration test is conducted from a standstill, and both motorcycles were tested under the same dry road conditions. From the get-go, the TVS has an edge over the Hero, with the Raider 125 reaching the 80kph mark 1 second quicker. The gap widens further, with the Hero Xtreme 125R falling behind by 2.6 seconds to reach the 100kph mark. Both motorcycles take more than 22 seconds to reach 100kph.

For our in-gear acceleration tests, we assess both motorcycles to see how quickly they accelerate in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. The TVS Raider 125 turned out to be the quicker one yet again, owing to its lighter weight and slightly higher torque rating with the iGo Assist technology.

In this test, we evaluate both motorcycles’ potential to come to a standstill from 60kph to simulate performance under emergency braking. We accelerate up to 60kph and then apply the brakes with ABS turned on. In our test, the Xtreme 125R came out victorious, with a difference of 1m compared to the Raider 125R. The contributing factor to this result is the larger disc brake with a diameter of 270mm, compared to the TVS’ 240mm disc.
