Follow us onWith Hyundai India having revealed battery specifications, powertrain details, and ARAI-rated range figures for the Creta Electric, it’s time to see how the EV compares with rivals in the mid-size e-SUV segment. Currently, options in this category include the temporarily renamed Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV.

*Figures for the larger battery version
While the Creta Electric will be available with two battery options – a 42kWh unit and a 51.4kWh one – the Hyundai seems to fall short when compared to rivals in terms of battery capacity. The Mahindra BE 6, with its 79kWh and 59kWh options, has the largest batteries here by a good margin, while the Curvv EV has the second largest. The ZS EV is the only one here with a sole 50.3kWh battery pack on offer, and it sits higher than the lower-spec versions of the Curvv EV and Creta Electric.
When it comes to ARAI ranges, the BE 6 can go the furthest on a single charge, owing to its larger batteries. The Curvv EV 55kWh version can go 30km more than the Creta Electric with the larger 51.4kWh pack. Meanwhile, the ZS EV’s range is 31km and 71km more than the smaller battery versions of the Tata and Hyundai, respectively.
It is only in terms of charging time on an AC charger that the Mahindra BE 6 falls behind its competition, as its larger batteries take more time to top up. It should be noted that the Mahindra is the only one here to come with an 11.2kW AC charging option, while the Tata and Hyundai make do with 7.2kW chargers. MG offers 3.3kW and 7.4kW AC charging options, but does not quote times for the former. It seems like the Creta Electric’s 51.4kWh battery charges to 100 percent on an AC charger the quickest amongst its rivals.
Although Hyundai has not revealed the powertrain details of the Creta Electric yet, the Korean brand claims a 0-100kph time of 7.9 seconds for the 51.4kWh model. This makes the Hyundai quicker than the Curvv EV and the MG ZS EV by 0.7 seconds and 0.6 seconds, respectively, but the Mahindra is quicker still, by a whopping 1.2 seconds. Do note that all the acceleration figures are for the larger battery models.
In terms of battery specifications and range, the Hyundai Creta Electric falls short of its rivals on paper. However, more details are required to see if this shortfall is compensated for in other ways, say with its features set and price point. That info will be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, scheduled to start on January 17.
