More refined
A few months ago, TVS had issued a free update to all existing customers that aimed to reduce vibrations, and it has worked. The updated, 2019 Apache RR 310 comes with these changes and it includes a new rubber lining for the windscreen, heavier bar-end weights, a new chain roller and an ECU update. All of these changes contribute to make a noticeable improvement.
Easier to ride
The 2019 TVS Apache RR 310 is the first bike in the 310 platform to get a slipper clutch and it has helped the motorcycle quite significantly. If you would have read our first-ride review, you would know that the slipper clutch helped hammering in multiple downshifts, without the rear tyre locking up on the racetrack. Engine braking has also reduced and TVS claims the new clutch will help with acceleration as well. The slipper clutch has also resulted in the clutch action feeling significantly lighter and this will help in city traffic in a big way.
Gets a new paint scheme
While the red colour scheme on the RR 310 remains identical to that on the older model, the black option has gone through a considerable change. TVS has opted out of using a matte option and instead adopted for a gloss-black paint scheme. Called ‘Phantom Black’, it gets a silver and red racing stripe running through the centre.
Existing RR310 owners can get the upgrade
As previously mentioned, all existing Apache RR 310 owners can get the update that helps with refinement, free of cost. But that’s not all, current customers will be happy to know that they can upgrade to the slipper clutch at an affordable rate of Rs 3,950.
Still a unique proposition
The RR continues to be a unique proposition at its price point. At Rs 2.24 lakh, it is a 35hp, fully-faired sports-tourer that can also double as a track machine. The RC 390, in comparison, is a hardcore purpose-built machine that is the happiest at a racetrack. Kawasaki’s Ninja, meanwhile, comes close in intent but costs a lot more, at Rs 2.98 lakh.
