German carmaker BMW will introduce a new top-spec petrol variant, dubbed 530i M Sport, for the standard 5-series sedan. Launched back in June 2017, the petrol 5-Series sedan was available in a single 530i Sport Line variant, with the M Sport trim available only on the 530d model.
Being an M Sport model, the new 530i gets the M Sport package on the outside. This includes sportier front and rear bumpers, rectangular exhaust tips and 18-inch M alloy wheels. It also features adaptive LED headlights, LED fog lights and a glass roof. The 530i M Sport is offered in four paint shades- Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mediterranean Blue and Bluestone.
Inside, the M Sport gets sports seats with Dakota leather upholstery, Aluminium Rhombicle interior trim with pearl chrome highlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay, navigation, BMW apps and gesture control compatibility. Additionally, it gets the BMW Display key, park assist with a surround view camera, remote control parking, dynamic damper control and a 12.3-inch multi-functional instrument display.
Powering the 530i M Sport is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 252hp at 5,200rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,450-4,800rpm. The engine sends power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
While there is no official word, we expect the 530i M Sport to cost a few lakhs over the 530i Sport Line variant. The 530i M Sport joins the 5-series line up which already includes the 530i Sport Line (Rs 53.80 lakh), 520d Luxury Line (Rs 58.70 lakh) and 530d M Sport (Rs 66.20 lakh). Key rivals include to the 5-Series are the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF.
