Cadillac CT6 revealed with three engine options

Cadillac has unveiled its Mercedes S-class rivalling flagship, the CT6 sedan, at the New York Auto Show 2015. The CT6 is one of the eight new cars the carmaker planned to launch by 2020; it will be available internationally in 2016.

The CT6 will be powered by three engine options — a 2.0-litre turbo-charged four-cylinder motor generating around 266bhp, a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6 generating around 335bhp, and a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 generating around 400bhp. Cadillac has also confirmed to our sister publication Autocar UK that the CT6 will receive a hybrid powertrain and a twin-turbo V8 in the future.

Measuring 5184mm long, 1879mm wide and 1472mm high, with a wheelbase of 3106mm and an estimated kerb weight of less than 1700kg, the CT6 can come with 18-inch, 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels. As per claims, the CT6 will be structurally lighter and stiffer than BMW’s 5-series and Audi’s A6 because of its aluminium platform.

The 2.0-litre turbo model will be offered in rear-wheel-drive form, whilst the two V6 variants will get an Active Chassis System as standard. The Active Chassis System includes all-wheel drive and Cadillac’s Magnet Ride Control system. The car will come with a double-wishbone front and a multi-link rear suspension. The driver will get the choice of three driving modes — Tour, Snow/Ice and Sport.
The interior of the CT6 is designed with a combination of leather, wood and carbon fibre. There's Opus leather and heated seats with five different massage functions. The rear seats are electrically adjustable, with media controls on the centre armrest that include HDMI and USB ports. The front-seat backs come with screens.

Cadillac says that the CT6 will receive a 360-degree camera that will offer a surround view of the vehicle. The other technologies offered are Advanced Park Assist, which parks the car automatically, and new safety features including Night Vision, which helps identify objects through heat signatures on the infotainment system, a Pedestrian Collision Mitigation feature that detects pedestrians and uses autonomous braking to avoid collisions, and Wireless phone charging.

In addition to the CT6, Cadillac is working on a range of SUVs and crossovers that will sit below the Escalade, as well as an Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA-rivalling sedan.
