Citroen is all set to launch its fifth product in India soon: the Basalt coupe SUV, set to directly rival the upcoming Tata Curvv. The Basalt will get some new features over the C3 Aircross on which it is based.

    1. Basalt to borrow C3 Aircross’ 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine
    2. To get auto climate control, new HVAC switches

The latest teasers reveal that the Basalt will borrow the C3 Aircross’ cabin, including the 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, cube-shaped AC vents below the infotainment screen and leatherette seats. However, the Basalt will get an automatic climate control system with new toggle switches for the HVAC controls, unlike the rotary dials in the C3 Aircross.

Further, the Basalt will also get a new, larger front armrest with storage space. The C3 Aircross gets an armrest for the driver only, with no storage option. The Basalt also comes with restyled, contoured rear headrests. Some of these features are also expected to trickle down to the C3 Aircross and C3 this year.

Citroen Basalt launch details, expected price

The Citroen Basalt is set to be unveiled in its production-ready form on August 2. The manufacturing of the coupe SUV commenced in June, while the launch is expected sometime after its global debut. Citroen will position the Basalt above the C3 Aircross in its line-up. It could be priced from Rs 11 lakh-12 lakh onwards, making it slightly more expensive than the 7-seater SUV, which costs Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 14.11 lakh.
