Audi A7 sedan: future E-class rival?

Thanks to Audi's new nomenclature, the numbers in the names are the differentiating element in the range, defining whether they are EVs or ICE vehicles. The even numbers correspond to pure electrics, while the odd ones are meant for the ICE-powered cars and SUVs. The ICE-powered A6 sedan has been already replaced by the A6 e-Tron abroad, which means the new A7 sedan is technically a replacement for the erstwhile A6. Just like its predecessor, the new Audi A7 sedan will be a direct rival to the BMW 5-series and the Mercedes E-Class sedan globally.

Audi A7 sedan: expected styling cues

The new E-Class-rival will get a traditional sedan body style, but the details, character lines and contouring seems very similar to Audi's most recent e-tron models. Upfront, the grille is even larger than the A6 but has rounded edges with sharply cutout creases for the headlamps that give it a sporty look. It has muscular fenders on the sides, and slim LED tail lamps at the rear that have a drop-down vertical element, and are likely connected by a ligh bar in between.

    Audi A7 sedan: powertrain line-up

The new A7 sedan will come with a both petrol and diesel engine options. All powerunits will get some sort of electrification, likely a 48V mild-hybrid setup. Some versions are likely to be offered with plug-in hybrid technology (PHEV) as well that could allow a driving range of more than 100km in electric mode. There will be Audi’s Quattro AWD system on offer on higher variants and dual-clutch S-Tronic automatic gearbox will be standard all across the range.

The new A7 will see light of day in production form sometime next year and market introductions will take place thereafter. Expect Audi to bring it to India only sometime in 2026.
