Test mule styling near identical to 911 GT3 RS; expected to be globally launched in 2017.

It has been a year since the reveal of the new 911 GT3 RS at the Geneva motor show 2015 and Porsche is already well into the development of a more hardcore version likely to be badged the 911 GT3 RS 4.2.

Test mules of the car have been spied with the styling remaining near identical to the current 911 GT3 RS though with a new rear bumper and a rear diffuser that seems to be borrowed from the 911R.

Mechanically, the 911 GT3 RS 4.2 will use a larger 4.2-litre naturally aspirated horizontally opposed six-cylinder boxer engine with output expected to exceed the current 500hp pumped out by the 4.0-litre flat-six on the standard 911 GT3 RS.

Though the interior of the new car is still mystery, we can expect it to be as track focused as that on the 911 GT3 RS, but with the possibility of a few subtle changes.

The new Porsche could make its debut in the latter half of the year before being launched internationally sometime next year with a price-tag that could make it more expensive than the current range topping 911 GT3 RS.
