Porsche recently showcased its Exclusive Manufaktur programme that allows buyers to personalise the car with more than 700 options to choose from. The German carmaker organised a workshop for enthusiasts, buyers and media at the Porsche Centre Kochi where it had displayed one-off creations of two of its cars – the Cayenne GTS and the Panamera Turbo S.

Porsche says it has been creating and fulfilling unique yet whacky requests for its customers right from the 1950s. Founder Ferdinand Porsche has been famously quoted as saying, “I couldn’t find the sportscar of my dreams, so I built it myself.” This has also become the mission statement of Porsche as well as Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur: what is it

The German carmaker says, "No two Porsches in the world are alike", and, as such, the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur programme, along with the Porsche Tequipment and the Porsche Classic programmes, allows buyers to select from more than 700 options. The customisation options are available for the entire model line-up Porsche offers in India and can be accessed through the Car Configurator feature on the brand's website.

Commenting on the bespoke programme, Manolito Vujicic, brand director, Porsche India, said, “For many Porsche customers, taking delivery of their new car means the fulfilment of a life-long dream. As a result, they want to own a car that is unique and portrays their personality.”

As part of the programme, Porsche offers Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus schemes, which allow buyers to individualise the colour of their cars. While Paint to Sample offers 150 colours on top of the standard range of paint shades, the Paint to Sample Plus scheme – only available on the 911, 718 and Taycan – allows owners to sample any paint on any surface as desired, as long as it's feasible.

Besides the paint scheme, owners can can pretty much customise every single detail in their car. For instance, Porsche claims the key and its leather pouch can be personalised in more than 2 lakh ways, while there's various options for the wheels, floor mats, gear knob, seats, armrest, headrests and puddle lamps too. One can even have their family logo stitched on the head restraints if they desire.

The Porsche Tequipment (technical equipment) department allows buyers to add a custom exhaust system, a new sound system, entertainment units and so on. The German carmaker emphasises that this programme can also be availed by existing owners and is not just limited to new buyers.  

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur: cars on display

The Panamera Turbo S on display at the Porsche Centre Kochi was finished in GT Silver Metallic and fitted with 21-inch Panamera Exclusive Design wheels, along with a bunch of carbon fibre design elements outside. Additionally, Porsche had fitted it with a sports exhaust system with black tailpipes, LED matrix headlamps and tinted tail lamps. Its red interior was accentuated with Abachi Anthracite wood-finish trims, a Sports Chrono package and a customised gear selector.

A Cayenne GTS in Carmine Red was also on display, featuring 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels as well as the GTS interior package that has the GTS-specific seat centre finished in Alcantara. It also had the Sport Chrono package, custom gear selector, rear seat entertainment package, Bose speaker system, Porsche Dynamic Light System and carbon fibre elements on the exterior.
