    Bajaj opens plant in Brazil; Dominar models to be made there

    Bajaj Auto has inaugurated its new manufacturing plant in Manaus, Brazil, where it will initially focus on manufacturing Dominar models, with plans to introduce Pulsar models later. Bajaj vehicles are now being sold in 100 countries.

    ​​​​​The new plant, spread over 9,600 square metres, is equipped with advanced manufacturing technology, including cutting-edge engine assembly, vehicle assembly, and testing facilities. It has an annual production capacity of 20,000 units operating on a single shift. Its strategic location in Manaus leverages the substantial fiscal benefits offered by the State as well as proximity to supply chains and major transportation hubs.

    Construction of the plant began in June 2023 and it became production-ready within a year. Initially focusing on sourcing, assembling and testing Dominar models, with plans to expand to other product lines, the facility has obtained ISO certification for its production processes. Bajaj do Brasil has successfully integrated local suppliers and commenced sourcing key motorcycle parts and components from Manaus.

    akesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, "With the establishment of our own plant in Brazil, we have achieved a quantum shift in local capability to fulfil demand. Our Dominar brand has received an outstanding reception since its launch 18 months ago."

    "The new manufacturing capabilities will enable us to build a wider distribution network, introduce new products and meet growing expectations of our customers. This plant also signals our commitment to Brazil, to building an ecosystem of partnerships and integrating further into the automotive industry,” he added.

    Bajaj do Brasil aims to expand the facility further in due course to accommodate additional production capacity of up to 50,000 units per year.
