Team MRF Tyres’ Andrea Mabellini and co-driver Virginia Lenzi won the eighth and final round of the 2024 European Rally Championship (ERC), Rally Silesia in Poland. As for the overall championship, while the team couldn’t make it three consecutive titles, it did finish second overall in the standings.

    • MRF Tyres second overall with 167 points
    • Mabellini becomes the eighth different ERC winner this year

Driving a Skoda Fabio Rally2 Evo, Mabellini trailed Hayden Paddon by 6.8 secs heading into the final day. But the wet conditions on Sunday played in Mabellini’s favour, with the Italian driver benefitting from selecting a cross tyre formation of soft compound dry tyres and wet weather covers.  He went 8 secs quicker than Paddon to take the rally lead and eventually won with a margin of 18.3 secs.

“I’m extremely happy. I want to thank Team MRF Tyres for believing in me from the start. We’ve worked hard together, and achieving this result is a huge satisfaction for all of us,” said Mabellini, who became the eighth different ERC rally winner this season.

“A big thanks also to Virginia [co-driver Lenzi], who understands me perfectly, guides me, and without whom I wouldn’t be able to give my best, and to everyone who supported us from Italy. It’s been an incredible weekend, a season finale to remember. We’re enjoying this moment.”
