Bajaj dealers have begun taking bookings for the BS6-compliant Avenger 160 Street at Rs 89,536 (ex-showroom). The BS6-compliant model comes with a price hike of Rs 7,501 over the older model. Its on-road cost, meanwhile, is around Rs 1.13 lakh.
The entry-level cruiser was launched last year as a replacement to the Avenger 180. Despite the reduction in engine capacity from the 180, the BS4-compliant 160.4cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor on the Avenger 160 produces numbers that are at par with those of the Avenger 180. For reference, the BS4-compliant Avenger 160 Street makes 15hp and 13.5Nm of torque. How the addition of a fuel-injection system and a revised exhaust has affected this engine remains to be seen.
Dealers also tell us that there are no other changes to the BS6-compliant Avenger 160 Street and that deliveries are set to begin soon. Dealers have also revealed the prices of the BS6-compliant Avenger 220 models, which you can read about here.
