BS6-compliant versions of the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon have begun reaching dealerships. In BS6 form, the most-affordable Pulsar models now cost Rs 68,762 (drum variant) and Rs 73,088 (disc variant) – an increase of Rs 5,178 and Rs 6,502, respectively.
Dealers also tell us that the Pulsar 125 has achieved BS6 compliancy thanks to the switch from a carburettor to fuel-injection, and a revised exhaust system. Like the BS6-compliant Bajaj Pulsar 220F and Pulsar NS200, this model isn’t expected to receive any cosmetic changes.
In its current form, the Pulsar 125 makes a peak output of 12hp at 8,500rpm and 11Nm at 6,500rpm from its 124.38cc, single-cylinder, two-valve, air-cooled engine. What remains to be seen is how the switch to fuel injection and a more restrictive exhaust has affected these numbers.
In terms of competition, the 5-speed Pulsar 125 Neon takes on the recently launched Honda SP 125 that costs Rs 72,900 (drum brake-equipped variant) and Rs 77,100 (disc brake-equipped version).
