KTM will launch the 790 Adventure in India next year. It shares its platform with the recently-launched 790 Duke and will come to our country as a BS6 model. Going by the difference in international prices, the adventure motorcycle will also be quite a bit more expensive than the 790 Duke in India.
The Austrian brand is expected to bring in the 790 Adventure as a CKD with a low level of localisation, which is similar to what it does with the 790 Duke. To give you an idea of the price difference, the 790 Duke costs £8,799 (Rs 7.70 lakh), while the 790 Adventure is priced at £11,099 (Rs 9.72 lakh) in the United Kingdom. This is an increase of around 20 percent. If the difference remains similar in India, it would mean that the 790 Adventure would cost around Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). We believe that KTM will bring in the base 790 Adventure, but the higher-spec model – the 790 Adventure R, with its premium adjustable suspension – is also being considered.
Powering the 790 Adventure is a 799cc, parallel-twin that makes 94hp and 88Nm of torque. Both the versions employ the same 21-inch front wheel, identical engine tuning and braking hardware. However, the 790 Adventure R has been equipped with 48mm WP XPLOR front fork with a massive 240mm suspension travel, while the stock bike features 43mm USD fork.
Braking hardware consists of twin 320mm discs with radially-mounted four-piston calipers and a 260mm disc at the rear. Fuel tank capacity stands at 20 litres and the 790 Adventure weighs 189kg (dry). Seat height is pretty tall, at 850mm, and the bike has a massive ground clearance of 233mm.
