Bajaj will soon launch an ABS-equipped Pulsar 220F in India. We believe the motorcycle will feature the same single-channel ABS unit that is also seen on the Pulsar RS200 and Pulsar NS200. Another Bajaj motorcycle that will also get ABS is the upcoming Pulsar 150 which is currently under development.
The RS200 was the first Pulsar to feature the Bosch-made single-channel system. Interestingly, Bajaj has equipped bikes featuring this system that features an ABS ring at the back as well, which many mistake for a dual-channel unit. However, the ring at the rear only serves to monitor rear-wheel speed to detect lift, with the front ABS compensating for the lift. The ABS cannot be switched off on the RS and NS and we believe the upcoming 220F won’t have that feature too.
Other than the addition of ABS, the new 220F will feature revised graphics. Powering it will be a 220cc engine, unchanged from before, that makes 20.9hp and 18.5Nm of torque. The non-ABS 220F’s 155kg kerb weight could go up by a couple of kilograms thanks to the additional equipment on board.
The standard non-ABS Pulsar 220F currently sells for Rs 96,448 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect the ABS model to be priced at a premium of Rs 10,000-12,000, bringing its price up to somewhere around the Rs 1.07 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
