Skoda has launched the 2019 Superb Corporate Edition at Rs 23.99 lakh. The comparatively affordable variant of the Czech carmaker’s flagship sedan in India will only be offered to existing Skoda customers. While the Superb Corporate Edition launched in August 2018 (at Rs 23.49 lakh), it was only available in the Candy White paint shade back then. The 2019 model is also available in a Magnetic Brown exterior finish.

Based on its price, the Corporate Edition is the new base variant in the Superb range. However, it still gets the same level of standard kit as the Style variant. The Superb Corporate Edition’s cabin is equipped with an 8.0-inch floating touchscreen system that supports MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. This variant also features an app that controls the radio, music and navigation. The care has a cooled glove box and three-zone climate control as well, along with a humidity sensor that reduces windscreen fogging.

On the performance front, the car is powered by a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 180hp and 320Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, although an automatic gearbox expected to be offered on the Corporate Edition later this year.

Coming to safety equipment, the model is fitted with eight airbags, ABS and also gets electronic safety control (ESC).

The Superb range in India consists of the Style variant and the Laurin & Klement (L&K) variant. The former is available with the 180hp, 1.8-litre petrol engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (with which the motor is tuned to produce 70Nm less torque) gearbox, as well as a 177hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. The top-spec L&K variant gets the same engine options, albeit with automatic transmission only. The table below has the complete price list for Skoda's flagship sedan.

The Superb’s rivals in our market include Volkswagen’s Passat (Rs 25.99-33.20 lakh), the Honda Accord Hybrid (Rs 43.21 lakh*) and the upcoming next-gen Toyota Camry Hybrid.
