Fiat has revealed the all-new Argo hatchback – the replacement for the ageing Punto in some markets – in Brazil, ahead of its launch.

The Argo features a sporty design with an aggressive front bumper, a large grille, stretched wrap-around headlamps, prominent creases, an integrated roof spoiler, dual-tone alloy wheels, a faux diffuser element on the rear bumper and body cladding. Adding to the sporty looks of the hatchback is a red strip running the length of the central air dam on the front bumper and a dual-tone paint scheme. Around the back, the car gets slim tail-lamps, a contoured boot lid and boomerang-shaped reflectors on the rear bumper, along with cladding along the lower bumper.

Inside, depending on the variant, the hatchback features a painted strip across the face of the dashboard separating the upper and lower sections. The centre console is crowned by a touchscreen infotainment system with circular air-con vents sitting below the unit. The climate control system also features a mix of circular dials and switches. The steering is of a new design while the instrument cluster gets a large, coloured multi-information display between the speedometer and the tachometer. Depending on the model, the car gets an automatic gearbox option that can either be operated by a traditional lever or via a push-button system – similar to the 595 Competizione – in India.

Under the hood, the hatchback is offered with a choice of a 1.0-litre, 1.3-litre and a range-topping 139hp, 1.8-litre flex-fuel engine paired with the choice of a five-speed manual, six-speed automatic or a five-speed automated manual gearbox.

The Argo also comes packed with a lot of comfort and safety kit such as traction control, stability control, auto climate control, keyless entry and go and a touchscreen infotainment system to name a few.

The Argo is set to go on sale in its home market of Brazil in the coming months before being offered in other international markets. However, there is yet no news if Fiat plans to bring the all-new hatchback to replace the current Punto Evo in the Indian market.
