Citroen India has announced the complete price list for the Basalt, ranging from Rs 7.99 lakh (as revealed earlier) to Rs 13.62 lakh. As we reported earlier, the coupe-SUV comes with both naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engine options, with the turbo one getting an automatic gearbox. Deliveries will start in the first week of September.
- Basalt Turbo price range is Rs 11.49 lakh-13.62 lakh
- Basalt automatic is available in two variants
- Dual tone finish costs an additional Rs 21,000
The Basalt’s line-up includes the 82hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the entry-level You variant (Rs 7.99 lakh), and the mid-spec Plus trim (Rs 9.99 lakh). The 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol range consists of the Plus trim (starting at Rs 11.49 lakh) and the Max variant (from Rs 12.28 lakh). A 6-speed torque converter automatic is offered with both turbo-petrol trims, for an additional cost of Rs 1.3 lakh-1.34 lakh.
Citroen has also revealed that a dual-tone finish is available only with the top-spec Max variants, for an outlay of Rs 21,000.
Bookings for the Basalt opened on August 9 with a payment of Rs 11,001, and test drives have started today. Compared to rivals in the midsize SUV segment, such as the Creta and Grand Vitara — priced from around Rs 11 lakh to over Rs 20 lakh for top-spec variants — the Citroen Basalt comes across as a very competitively priced product.
The top-spec Basalt Max variant features a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, six airbags, ESC, a rear camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Citroen has ensured that the Basalt is well enough differentiated from the C3 Aircross, despite their similar price points.
