Ferrari had showcased its latest mid-engined supercar – the F8 Tributo – at the 2019 Geneva motor show, which was held earlier this year. The latest mid-engine offering from Ferrari, as the name suggests, pays tribute to Ferrari’s older V8 Berlinetta models. This model is also expected to be the last non-hybrid V8 supercar the brand will produce. We can confirm that the F8 Tributo will be launched in our market in the first quarter of 2020 (January-March), and it will be priced from Rs 4.02 crore (ex-showroom).
The F8 Tributo uses the same 3.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, award-winning engine from the 488 supercar, though it has now been uprated to produce 720hp and 770Nm of torque. Ferrari claims that the F8 Tributo can do the 0-100kph sprint in just 2.9sec, while 0-200kph takes just 7.8sec. The supercar can go on to hit a claimed top speed of 340kph, which makes it the fastest series production mid-engine Ferrari till date. It is also 40kg lighter and has 15 percent more downforce (claimed) than the 488.
In terms of design, the F8 Tributo looks quite similar to the 488, though a few differentiating factors include deeper creases, the S-duct intake at the rear, sharper headlights and the twin rear tail-light clusters, which are a modern take on the lights present on the 1975 308 GTB – the first eight-cylinder Berlinetta. The engine cover also sports louvres that have been inspired from the iconic Ferrari F40.
