Volkswagen has launched the new CrossPolo with a price tag of Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is Rs 24,000 less than the Polo GT TSI. We were the first to break the story way back in December, 2012.

The CrossPolo is basically a Polo hatchback with additional body cladding. The ride height is slightly increased and a thick, matte plastic band extends across the chin, the flanks and around the rear. The wheel arches get the same treatment and there’s a scuff plate with a dull silver finish.

The CrossPolo also gets a different grille with a single slat and silver anodised roof rails where up to 75kg of luggage can be mounted and secured. The CrossPolo comes with a silver diffuser at the rear and 15-inch alloy wheels. Continued..
Power comes from the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder diesel engine that does duty on the Polo. It comes in only one trim and has similar equipment-levels as the top-end Highline diesel variant, the only change being that the interiors come in an all-black theme.

The CrossPolo is priced at Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The carmaker is also working on bringing another variant of the CrossPolo later, touted to be a more upmarket variant with a spare wheel at the back and VW's new 1.5-litre diesel engine. This could be set for a 2014 launch.
