Tata Motors has officially begun accepting bookings for its upcoming Altroz Racer ahead of its launch on June 7. Essentially the sportier version of the Altroz hatchback, the Racer gets unique exterior finishes, a matching interior, more equipment, and a more powerful engine.

  1. Tata Altroz Racer to get three variants – R1, R2 and R3
  2. Gets segment-first blind spot monitor, 360-degree camera and cooled seats
  3. Gets 120hp, 1.2-litre engine along with a sportier exhaust system

Tata Altroz Racer variants, features

Along with the announcement of Altroz Racer bookings commencing, the model’s brochure has also been leaked online, giving us nearly every detail of the upcoming warm-hatch. With three variants on offer – R1, R2 and R3 – even the entry-level trim gets plenty of bells and whistles. The Altroz Racer R1 variant is even better equipped than the standard Altroz’s top-spec XZ+ trim, adding kit such as four more airbags, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a sportier exhaust. However, it makes do with a 4-inch semi-analogue instrument cluster, and does not get a sunroof.

To get the 7-inch digital instrument cluster, the powered sunroof, wireless charging, 360-degree camera and blind spot monitor, you’ll have to opt for the Altroz Racer R2. The top-spec R3 variant adds Tata’s connected car tech, ventilated front seats and an air purifier. As we’ve mentioned before, the Altroz Racer debuts segment-first kit such as the cooled seats and 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring.

Tata Altroz Racer powertrain

The brochure leak also confirms that the Altroz Racer will be powered by the Nexon’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 120hp and 170Nm of peak torque. Only a 6-speed manual gearbox is available. However, to match the sporty aspirations, Tata will also fit a sportier-sounding exhaust.

Tata Altroz Racer interior, exterior highlights

Spy shots had revealed that the Altroz Racer will get the same dual-tone finish seen on the car displayed at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo, albeit with the standard model’s 16-inch alloy wheels. We can now confirm that there will be a total of three paint options on offer – the previously seen Atomic Orange, Avenue White and Pure Grey – all of which come with a contrasting black finish on the bonnet and roof, and white racing stripes on the bonnet.

The Altroz Racer’s interior will mirror the exterior finish; highlights of the corresponding exterior colour will be used around the AC vents, on the centre console, gearbox and on the seat upholstery.

Tata will be offering a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty as standard with the Altroz Racer. Expect the Altroz Racer to be priced significantly higher than the standard Altroz iTurbo, which is curently priced between Rs 9.20 lakh and Rs 10.10 lakh, ex-showroom, India.
