Volvo is readying an all-new EX60 electric SUV, set to debut in 2026. This will be Volvo’s first model to sit on an entirely new platform that is highly scalable and features advanced computing technology, according to Autocar UK.
- Volvo EX60 will be as big as XC60 in size
- Will sit on the new SPA3 flexible platform
- Will be produced using new mega-casting tech
Volvo EX60 to be a key model for the brand
This new SUV will be a key model for Volvo’s electric switch, serving as the electric equivalent of the hugely popular XC60 family SUV, which has long been the Swedish firm’s best-seller.
The brand has announced only the name of the new SUV and has not revealed any other details yet. Size-wise, the EX60 will be as big as the XC60, but it will have a lot of design cues from the smaller EX30 and the recently updated XC90 SUV.
The new SUV will be the first Volvo to benefit from mega casting, a technology set to be introduced with the SPA3 that allows entire sections of a vehicle to be created as a single part rather than multiple elements. This, along with other changes and the more modular nature of SPA3, will also lower production costs.
As far as EVs go, Volvo currently sells the C40 recharge and the XC40 recharge in India. The brand is yet to introduce the new EX line-up of electric SUVs.
